Glass Box of Love

FullSizeRender.jpg

I know there are some people who never take their wedding ring off. I’m not one of those people.

Kim is an always-on-er. It’s a symbolic thing to her. I like this about her! I, however, take my ring off every night. I put it in a special little glass box by the bed. I’ve done it this way ever since I got married. In the beginning I just had a hard time getting used to this new thing on my hand, but, over the years the act of slipping it on my finger has come to mean something important to me. Each morning I have to remind myself to PUT. IT. ON. It’s like the phrase we hear in sports, “Get your game on.” Well, to me, each morning when I put on my ring it’s similar to that. “Get your marriage on.” I like it, because I have to literally think to myself each day what that ring represents. It’s a physical act that reminds me of my commitment. As I slide it onto my finger I am reminded of the vows I spoke, the faithfulness that is required, the love I have, and the beautiful gift I’ve been given. I don’t want to take my marriage for granted.

So, call me an off-and-on-er if you want to… but, hey… do YOU have a FANCY GLASS BOX that symbolizes your undying love? noooooooooooo…..
